Today I want to share Lauren and Mason’s big day! Everything happened at Casa Valerie, a stunning villa that quickly became one of my favorite venues in Puerto Vallarta. Since it was an intimate wedding, the vibe from the start was super relaxed and chill.
Lauren got ready with her sister-in-law in a very casual way, just chatting, laughing, and having a great time. Meanwhile, Mason was playing cards with his family and friends, taking it easy until it was time to suit up. His father was there to help him with the final touches, making sure everything looked perfect.
Back in Lauren’s room, her mom helped her into her dress. The second she was ready, you could tell how happy she was. She couldn’t stop smiling and looked absolutely gorgeous, like a Barbie doll.
The Private First Look
We set up the First Look on the top floor of the villa to ensure complete privacy. When Lauren surprised Mason from behind, their joy was imminent. You could see it on their faces, that exact moment when it finally “hits” you that you’re getting married. It’s honestly the best feeling to capture. After a quick portrait session around the house’s best spots, we moved into family photos.
A Meaningful Ceremony
As guests started to arrive, the ceremony setting was ready. A very special detail: Mason’s older brother was the officiant, which made the moment even more emotional. It was a short but powerful ceremony, and you could feel the excitement from every single one of the 20 guests.
Sunset, Mariachi, and Tequila
Right after the “I do’s,” guests headed to the bar for cocktail hour while we took more couple portraits. The timing was perfect; the sun was setting, giving us that beautiful, soft golden light.
Then came the big surprise: a Mariachi band! None of the guests knew, so when the couple entered the party with the music playing, the energy shifted instantly. There was dancing, tequila shots, and all the raw emotion you’d expect from a celebration in Mexico.
Dinner and an Unexpected Party
After a heartfelt toast from Mason thanking everyone for making the trip, it was time for the dances. The couple looked stunning during their slow song, followed by the traditional father-daughter and mother-son dances.
Sometimes with small groups, the party can be more about chatting and drinks, but not this one! Everyone jumped onto the dance floor, and the energy was amazing until the end.
The Team & The Venue
This wedding was flawlessly executed by Prisar Weddings. It’s always a pleasure working with them because they make sure everything goes smoothly.
And I have to talk about Casa Valerie. This venue is a dream for an intimate destination wedding. The architecture provides so many unique backdrops, and the views of the ocean are simply stunning. It’s easily one of my favorite spots in Puerto Vallarta for its privacy and elegance.
A Different Perspective
It’s funny, I’ve been shooting weddings for almost 20 years, and people often say the wedding is “all for the bride” and the groom is just there to support. But this was different. Mason was actually the one who really wanted the wedding; Lauren told me she originally wanted to elope! That just shows how relaxed she is. She was super excited, but it was Mason who championed the idea of having this beautiful destination celebration.
