Punta Mita Honeymoon Session

Lacey contacted me a couple of weeks ago to share that she and her husband Lucas had just tied the knot in their hometown and were heading to Mexico for their honeymoon. While planning their trip, she reached out about booking a Punta Mita honeymoon session at the St. Regis, where they’d be staying. They wanted to celebrate their first getaway as newlyweds in a way they could look back on forever.

She mentioned that Lucas wasn’t a big fan of photo shoots, but he was willing to do it for her,  now that’s love. And honestly, by the end of the session, you’d never know he wasn’t totally into it from the start.

A Picture-Perfect Punta Mita Honeymoon Session

On the day of the shoot, I met Lacey and Lucas at their incredible suite, complete with a private pool and direct beach access. It was the perfect place to begin their Punta Mita honeymoon session. This hotel is truly breathtaking, every angle looks like it belongs in a luxury magazine.

After settling in with a quick chat, I asked if they had any specific photo ideas. They smiled and told me they trusted me completely, which is always such a gift! When couples give me full creative freedom, I get to focus on capturing real connection and emotion, rather than checking off a shot list. It’s the best feeling, and it always leads to the most authentic photos.

From Private Suite to Seaside Love

We started the session in their suite, capturing sweet moments around the pool and terrace. Barefoot walks, cozy cuddles, and those first relaxed newlywed laughs. From there, we slowly made our way to the beach. The sky was slightly overcast, casting the most flattering, romantic light. But just before sunset, the clouds broke and gave us a soft, golden glow that lit everything up perfectly.

Every detail felt personal and relaxed, exactly what I hope for in a Punta Mita honeymoon session that’s focused on storytelling and connection.

As we wrapped up, a light rain started to fall, talk about cinematic timing. The whole shoot flowed so naturally that I almost forgot Lucas was supposed to be camera-shy. I always aim to create a relaxed, fun environment, and it shows in the photos. They looked joyful, effortless, and completely in love.

Why I Love Honeymoon Sessions

Couple sessions are always a favorite of mine, but there’s something extra special about a honeymoon session. All the stress of the wedding is behind them, and the vibe is more calm, more connected. It’s just the two of them, beginning this beautiful new chapter, and I get to help capture the start of their adventure.

There’s also something incredibly intimate about photographing couples during this quieter, more personal time. No schedules, no guests, just love, laughter, and a gorgeous destination as the backdrop.

3 Reasons to Book a Honeymoon Session

If you’re thinking about skipping professional photos during your trip, here’s why a Punta Mita honeymoon session, or a session anywhere special to you, is totally worth it:

1. It Captures the Glow After “I Do”

The energy right after your wedding is different. You’re still riding the high of the big day, but now it’s just the two of you, soaking it all in. A honeymoon session captures that just-married magic, the kind that’s filled with happy sighs, inside jokes, and the real beginning of forever.

2. It’s the Most Relaxed You’ll Be

Let’s be real: wedding days can be a whirlwind. But on your honeymoon? You’re relaxed, you’re in a beautiful place, and you’re not rushing between timelines. That calm energy translates into more natural, effortless photos.

3. A Destination Worth Remembering

You chose your honeymoon spot for a reason, it’s meaningful, it’s beautiful, it’s yours. Why not document your love in that setting? Whether it’s on the beach, in a private villa, or exploring local streets, a honeymoon session turns a vacation into a visual love letter.

The Magic of the St. Regis Punta Mita

I can’t wrap this up without talking about how dreamy the St. Regis Punta Mita is. For this Punta Mita honeymoon session, we focused mainly on their suite and the private beach next to it, but the entire property is a dream. Every detail is thoughtful and stunning.

As a Punta Mita wedding photographer, I always feel so inspired by this location. Whether it’s a honeymoon, elopement, or full wedding weekend, the light, colors, and atmosphere are just magic. I honestly can’t wait to go back!
