This Secrets Bahia Mita wedding was something else. Since the moment Mikayla and Tyler reached out to me, I knew this day was going to be special, and it really delivered. I’m so grateful I got to be part of this amazing celebration.
Everything happened right at the hotel. I started with the groom this time, and Tyler was getting ready in the presidential suite, because why not? He had a big group of groomsmen, and they were having a blast from the start.
Getting Ready at the Presidential Suite
Most of the guys were already suited up when I showed up. Tyler put on his suit, and his best man helped him with the bow tie. His parents stopped by at one point, and seeing his mom look at him with so much pride was a truly emotional moment.
Tyler also had a surprise for his crew: he gifted everyone an amazing watch. It was a great gesture, and they were all stoked about it. And, of course, there were plenty of drinks involved for a proper toast with the whole group.
Bridesmaids and Champagne at the Spa
Mikayla, on the other hand, got ready at the spa with her bridesmaids, her mom, and her mother-in-law. They were taking things easy, and she looked absolutely stunning. As a photographer, it’s easy to tell when a bride is genuinely happy, and she was definitely ready for what was ahead!
Her bridesmaids wore gorgeous sky-blue dresses. We took some portraits with their flowers and, naturally, some shots while they enjoyed some champagne. The vibe was relaxed and perfect for a Secrets Bahia Mita wedding.
An Emotional First Look and Portraits
We decided to do the first look in the presidential suite to dodge the intense heat and strong sun. First looks are always amazing, but this one was special. Tyler couldn’t hold it back and started crying, it was a beautiful moment for the two of them.
After that, the bridal party and family joined us for portraits. I always recommend having these pictures taken before the ceremony so you don’t have to worry about them later and can just enjoy the party.
Sunset Ceremony and Beach Portraits
The ceremony was amazing from the very beginning. As Mikayla walked down the aisle, Tyler was tearing up again. It was a meaningful ceremony right before sunset, which is the perfect time for a wedding in the Pacific.
While the guests headed to the cocktail hour, we went to the beach for my favorites: the sunset pictures. If you’re getting married here, you have to do it! The ceremony stress was gone, so their expressions were 100% natural.
The Party and a Special Guest DJ
Once everyone was seated for the reception, the couple made their entrance straight into their first dance. I loved that there was still a little color in the sky before it got dark—perfect timing! After dinner, we had some really heartfelt speeches.
Then it was party time, and the energy was insane. A very cool fact: Mikayla’s dad was the DJ! Turns out he’s amazing; he played almost all night and really delivered. The party was great from start to finish.
