Let’s talk about Mikayla and Tyler’s weekend, starting with their Secrets Bahia Mita welcome party. From the second they reached out, I knew this was going to be a wedding full of heart. They are so relaxed and easygoing, and you could definitely feel that vibe from day one!
I’m a huge fan of destination weddings because they aren’t just a one-day thing. These two kicked off the celebration on Friday with an incredible terrace party at the hotel complex.
A chill sunset session before the Secrets Bahia Mita welcome party
Before the guests showed up, we met for a quick session around the hotel. It was the perfect icebreaker. They got to see how I work, and I got to see how they naturally interact in front of the lens before the big day.
Once we finished, we walked over to the terrace where everyone was already waiting for them. The energy was high and the view was honestly hard to beat.
Tacos, tequila shots, and great speeches
The party was spot on. As soon as the sun went down, the Mexican buffet was ready. Between the tequila shots and the tacos, there were some great speeches that really set the tone for the entire weekend.
If I already had a feeling this group was going to be fun, the speeches confirmed it. It was exactly what you want: relaxed, heartfelt, and with plenty of food and drinks for everyone.
Why you need a welcome party for your destination wedding
I’ve said it before, but having a welcome party is a great move. If you can do a mini-session before it starts, even better. You get some cool, casual photos and a bit of “practice” before the main event.
