Planning a destination wedding often involves adventure, and Maggi and Kai’s wedding in Yelapa, Mexico, was no exception. Held in a hidden hotel called Verana, their special day was a perfect blend of romance and adventure.
Journey to Yelapa
Reaching Yelapa is part of the adventure. After landing in Puerto Vallarta, you can take a taxi to the Muelle de los Muertos, followed by a 50-minute shared taxi boat ride to Yelapa. Alternatively, you can drive for about an hour from Puerto Vallarta to Boca de Tomatlán and then take a 30-minute taxi boat ride to Yelapa. However, the easiest and most scenic route is taking the boat directly from PV to Yelapa.
Exploring the Beauty of Yelapa
Yelapa is a charming beach village that you can only reach by boat, making it a true hidden gem. The village has no cars, offering a serene and timeless atmosphere that feels like stepping back in time. The best time to visit Yelapa is during the winter months when the weather is perfect, and is less crowded.
Verana Hotel
The Verana hotel, is on top to a hill and it truly is a secluded paradise. To get to the hotel, you must hike for about 30 minutes in the middle of the jungle, trying to follow a small, almost indistinguishable path without signs, it is quite a challenge, making the journey as adventurous as the destination. Upon arrival, you are greeted with stunning architecture, breathtaking views, and various picturesque spots.
Preparations in the Nature
Maggi got ready with her sister’s help. Her spectacular wedding dress made her look like she stepped out of a fairy tale. Taking a moment to enjoy the views from her room, Maggi took in the beauty of the place. Meanwhile Kai prepared alone in a room that felt like it was part of the natural surroundings. Dressed in a blue suit with a matching tie and contrasting pink socks, he looked great.
A Ceremony with Stunning Views
The ceremony took place at the top of the hotel, with incredible views of the beach and surrounding mountains. After exchanging vows, Maggi and Kai were congratulated by their friends and family. We captured family portraits in this stunning setting, taking full advantage of the beautiful location. The formal session that followed was one of my favorites, thanks to the couple’s enthusiasm and the venue’s diverse spots.
The Reception
The reception was simple but beautiful, with a single table accommodating all guests. Speeches during dinner added a personal touch, followed by Maggi and Kai’s first dance, which opened the dance floor to everyone. Despite the small group, the atmosphere was lively, with guests dancing and celebrating together.
The amazing planning and decoration were handled by MarWeddings. If you’re looking for an intimate wedding planner, they are the best in the business, knowing the perfect locations to make your day unforgettable.
