A Romantic Peak District Wedding at Haddon Grove
Some weddings just stay with you forever, and this Peak District wedding was one of those. I photographed this wedding a few years ago, and to this day, it’s still one of my all-time favorites.
The Perfect Peak District Wedding Location, Haddon Grove
Tucked in the heart of the Peak District, this wedding took place at the gorgeous Haddon Grove Farm Cottages, a charming venue surrounded by stunning English countryside.
To reach it, you drive along peaceful, winding roads with sweeping views of the Peaks. Once you arrive, the classic stone architecture and beautiful gardens make it feel like a storybook escape.
A Cozy and Intimate Celebration
This wasn’t a big wedding, around 60 guests were invited, but that made it even more special. It felt warm, personal, and filled with all the right people.
The morning began with Lizzie getting ready in one of the farm cottages with her bridesmaids. It was a relaxed and joyful start to the day, makeup, laughter, and mimosas.
When her dad came in to see her in her wedding dress, his face said it all. Lizzie looked absolutely stunning. It was such a heartfelt moment.
Over in another cottage, Jamie was getting ready with his groomsmen. There was champagne, a lot of laughs, and a sense of excitement. He wore a deep blue suit that looked sharp and modern and the most amazing cufflinks, ready to tie the knot in style.
Peak District Wedding Ceremony in the Rain, With a Bit of Magic
The ceremony and reception took place under a large tipi tent, a perfect choice since a little rain decided to show up. But honestly? The weather only added to the charm.
They chose not to do a first look, wanting that special moment to happen at the aisle. And when it did, wow. You could feel the emotion as they saw each other for the first time. Jamie even teared up during their heartfelt vows.
It was a short but beautiful ceremony. Rings were exchanged, happy tears were shed, and love was in the air.
Golden Hour Wedding Portraits in the Peak District
After the ceremony, we snuck away for their wedding portraits around the Haddon Grove cottages.
And just like a movie, the rain stopped, the sun peeked through, and we got the most magical golden hour light. The stone cottages, the greenery, the light, everything came together perfectly.
Honestly, this is one of my favorite wedding portrait sessions ever. The backdrop of the Peak District gave us so much to work with, and Lizzie and Jamie were glowing.
Dancing the Night Away
Dinner followed the portraits, and the food was delicious. A couple of heartfelt speeches brought laughter and maybe a tear or two.
Then came the first dance, surrounded by their guests in a big circle, cheering them on. After that, the dance floor exploded with energy. Everyone danced like no one was watching and I made sure to get every moment.
Why I’ll Always Love a Peak District Wedding
This day reminded me why I love what I do, capturing real, emotional moments in incredible places like the Peak District.
I lived in London long time ago, and every time I return to the UK, it feels like coming home. This wedding reignited my dream of shooting more love stories in this magical part of England.
